Tenguman of Beyondard
The history of the "Tengu" is quite interesting, and this is not the first time it has been referenced in this anime. The following is a short description of this mythological creature:
"The patron of martial arts, the bird-like Tengu is a skilled warrior and mischief maker, especially prone to playing tricks on arrogant and vainglorious Buddhist priests, and to punishing those who willfully misuse knowledge and authority to gain fame or position. In bygone days, they also inflicted their punishments on vain and arrogant samurai warriors. They dislike braggarts, and those who corrupt the Dharma (law). Tenguman is operated by an old man by the name of Fuuten Roushi, who is rumored to have the ability to listen to the wind. Together, they make a formidable and powerful team when in battle. Though one has to admit, Roushi's small size compared to Tenguman's massive build is quite amusing.
Tenguman's role seems perfectly fit for his historic origins, as it is left up to him to repel Narcy Hide and his evil intentions. Narcy has been busy bullying the people of an onsen resort out of their money. He finally meets up with Roushi and Tenguman, and is overwhelmed quite easily, being sent back to wherever he came from without much of a fight.

It's really a shame that we only got to see Tenguman for a breif moment!
This character description was made for episodes that I have seen so far. It may be updated as more episodes become available.
